Habitat for Humanity GB believe that everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live and that achieving this is an important part of breaking the cycle of poverty.
Their goal is to achieve a world where housing poverty and homelessness are eliminated so that individuals and families can enjoy a life full of optimism and potential and a future that they can look forward to. A long-term partner of COINS Foundation, we’re delighted to have supported Habitat through their micro-finance loan schemes and on various builds, but this Christmas they’ve put on a festive challenge that’s available to all of their supporters…
In honour of International Gingerbread House Day, which this year falls on December 12th, Habitat are holding a build with a difference which is free to take part in and open to all! Why not start the festive season by participating in the Habitat Gingerbread House Challenge and help them to raise vital funds by baking, building, and decorating your very own Gingerbread House. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures of your creations and use the hashtag #GingerbreadHouseDay as well as tagging Habitat on all social media posts so that they can view your creations and you will be added to the prize draw to win a superb Christmas hamper.
The Gingerbread challenge runs until 24th December, giving you plenty of time to get together with; colleagues, friends and family to take on the task and find out who’s construction will receive the crown for the nation’s top gingerbread house. An indoor alternative to their previous builds, it’s a fantastic team building activity and is bound to get everyone in the Christmas spirit as a warm-up to the office party, or you could even make it part of the celebrations? Habitat’s Gingerbread House packs make getting creative even easier, providing you with all the resources to get as competitive as you like in the fight for poverty.
Homelessness affects thousands of people and is on the rise, yet there are enough empty homes in Britain to home every homeless person twice over. Habitat are working hard to utilise this space and COINS Foundation are proud to continue our support by matching all funds raised by Habitat’s UK Christmas appeal.
