Bridging the Gap with Pathways Education

Set in beautiful private grounds, surrounded by the Surrey Hills, Pathways Education offers a unique, safe and calm environment for young people aged 9 onwards, with special educational needs, who are at risk of NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training).

Pathways are fully inclusive and their aim is that all their students achieve their potential; personally, socially, emotionally, and academically in all areas of the curriculum. This is underpinned by their school vision and values. They're confident that collectively their approach will enable pupils to thrive and achieve holistically.

Leo Lion Foundation started Pathways after witnessing the success of Undershaw Education and identifying a growing need to support those students still struggling in either mainstream education or unable to access it. The Foundation initiated a conversion of unused stables to provide a small and quiet education facility and worked to put together a team that has enabled it to flourish. Still in its infancy, they have already seen great success and are ready to move into delivering Key Stage 4. As demand continues to grow, the Foundation has identified and purchased a new site that will expand their current offering to a further 100 students. The facility will be able to support 50 SEN students who have been out of formal education for more than six months as well as an additional 50 students coming in for Alternative Provisions.

Through their outreach work, students have regular access to a range of learning and employment opportunities within the local area, where careers learning is contextualised. The school has the provision of a music studio, and access to beautiful private grounds, equine facilities, The Cookie Bar coffee shop, the Cookie Bus (a mobile version of the shop), and the Bike workshop.
