COINS Foundation is delighted to have joined with Comfort Systems USA to enter into a partnership with the Houston Food Bank.
On June 1, volunteers from COINS and Comfort Systems USA travelled to the Houston Food Bank’s Keegan Kitchen and worked alongside H.E.A.R.T program students to prepare food for the Houston Texans.
The Houston Texans Café is a social enterprise operated by Houston Food Bank. The café provides training opportunities for young adults with intellectual disabilities through the H.E.A.R.T. program. H.E.A.R.T. interns learn job-related, daily living and socialisation skills. Texans Café also conducts a training program for adults who are struggling with unemployment and poverty.
COINS Foundation and Comfort Systems USA are contributing funding to help improve the infrastructure at Houston Food Bank Texans Café. The funding will enable the café to add hot meals to the current cold selection, which will significantly increase revenue from meals sold to event attendees and food bank volunteers.

The Houston Food Bank, the largest in the U.S., is a solution to both hunger and food waste and was nationally recognised as Feeding America’sFood Bank of the Year in 2015. The Houston Food Bank distributes 83 million nutritious meals through its network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief charities in south-east Texas, feeding 800,000 individuals each year.
